The Piermont Inn was originally established by Dr. Ross Coon in 1790 as a tavern and stagecoach stop on the old turnpike to Concord, NH. Since the town of Piermont was settled in 1768, this was the first tavern in the village area. Built in a style common to the times, it consisted of a tavern and sitting rooms downstairs, with a large Ballroom overhead.
